Egypt and Rosatom are preparing the El-Dabaa NPP for grid connection and for receiving the first fuel.

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmud Esmat met with the First Deputy General Director of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, Andrey Petrov, to analyze the progress on the construction of Egypt's first nuclear power plant El Daba (El Dabaa), according to Arab Finance

The meeting focused on the final preparations for receiving the first nuclear fuel, the integration of the power plant into the national electricity grid, and the production dynamics of key equipment, primarily turbine facilities. In addition, an expansion of the training and specialization program for Egyptian operational personnel domestically and abroad was agreed, as well as continuing talks with the Rosatom Smart Utilities branch on the construction of an integrated seawater desalination plant within the nuclear complex.

The El Daba project includes the construction of four VVER-1200 reactors of the III+ generation, with a total capacity of 4,800 MW. The plant plays a key role in Cairo's strategy to reduce fossil fuel consumption, meet the rapidly growing demand for electricity, and ensure stable zero-carbon baseload energy and drinking water for the northern part of the country.
