Lithuania will turn to international experts for the dismantling of the active zone of the RBMK-1500 at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.
Lithuania will turn to international experts for assistance in dismantling the reactor's working zone of the RBMK-type nuclear reactor at the decommissioned Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP). This was announced to journalists by the general director of INPP, Linas Baužys.
As the director of the nuclear station stated, such work will be conducted for the first time in the world.
"We have independently dismantled the lower and upper panels of the reactor. The next stage - the dismantling of the active zone - is the most complex. It has been decided to involve international experts for assistance," he said.
A competition will be announced to select a partner.
