"Rosatom" has installed the stator of the turbo generator at the second power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
At the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (being constructed by the state corporation "Rosatom"), one of the key installation operations in the machine room of the second power unit has been completed – the lifting and installation of the turbo-generator stator in its design position.
The stator is one of the heaviest components of the nuclear power plant equipment. Its weight is 437 tons, length – 12 meters, diameter – 4.2 meters. The installation of the equipment in the design position was carried out using specialized rigging and hydraulic systems.
On the eve of the operation, a range of preparatory work was completed, including the strengthening of the zero level ceiling of the machine room, installation of temporary support structures, as well as the installation of a special rail track for transporting equipment to the installation site in the design position. The lifting of the stator to the turbine level (18.5 meters above ground) was carried out without a crane using a hydraulic rigging system. The technology had previously been tested during the lifting to the design elevation and installation of the stator in the machine room of unit No. 1 of the Akkuyu NPP.
“At the first power unit, commissioning work continues, while construction and installation operations are sequentially conducted at other power units. With the involvement of an experienced Turkish company specializing in transportation and rigging work, we completed the transportation, lifting to the design elevation, and installation in the design position of the turbo-generator stator for the second power unit. Thus, in the machine room of the block, we are gradually transitioning from construction work to the installation of turbo-generator components, ensuring the necessary groundwork for further installation and commissioning work,” noted Sergey Butskiy, General Director of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC.
