Russia named those who are preventing it from building nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan.
A large-scale discrediting campaign has been launched against "Rosatom." This was stated by the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexey Shevtzov, as reported by Ulysmedia.kz.
According to Shevtzov, the "West" has set out to prevent Russia from building nuclear power plants in the territory of "neighboring fraternal countries." He specified that this refers to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. According to him, some media outlets, receiving generous grants, attempted to tarnish the reputation of the Russian state corporation.
Quote - If we take, for example, one of the most recent events regarding the construction of nuclear energy, say, in Kazakhstan, in Kyrgyzstan, then in order for Rosatom not to enter our fraternal countries, a massive information campaign to discredit Rosatom has been launched. Such attempts have been made, and they will continue. Many people are working on this, and it is generously funded. This is being engaged in by Western media, pro-Western media. They receive grants, which are then either worked off and reports are compiled, or the funds are embezzled, - quotes Shevtzov TASS.
Context It is worth recalling that "Rosatom" heads the consortium for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. There is currently no official data on what the cost of electricity generated by this plant will be. However, industry experts have already begun to make assumptions.
