Russia will provide Kazakhstan with a loan for the construction of a nuclear power plant.

To build a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, it is planned to attract an intergovernmental loan from Russia. This was reported by the chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency Almasadam Satkaliev, as reported by Tengrinews.kz.
Satkaliev stated that no problems with financing the construction of the NPP are expected. According to him, Kazakhstan and Russia are working on the mechanism of the intergovernmental loan.
"The first agreement is directly about the construction of the nuclear power station, and the second agreement is specifically about the provision of financing from the Russian side. It involves the distribution of 85 percent as a loan, 15 percent from the Kazakh government's side, and these documents are at a fairly high level of readiness," he told journalists.
The final cost of the project will be determined after the design is completed. The chairman of the agency stated that the estimated amount is about 15 billion dollars for two power units with a capacity of 1200 megawatts each.
