The majority of residents in Poland support the construction of nuclear power plants.
About 80% of Poles are ready to see a nuclear power plant near their home. This is evidenced by a nationwide survey conducted on behalf of the country's Ministry of Energy.
According to the survey data, 92% of respondents expressed support for the development of nuclear energy. Only 5.4% are against it, of which 2.8% are firmly opposed to the Polish nuclear power plant project. At the same time, nearly 80% of respondents stated that they do not object to the construction of a power plant near their place of residence. 17.4% of study participants opposed such an idea.
According to Wojciech Wrochny, Deputy Minister of Energy and Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, Polish nuclear energy is an investment in the future and the foundation of the country's energy security.
“Most already see the benefits of this energy source today — its low emissions, safety, and stability. Nuclear energy ensures energy supply both when the sun shines and when it does not, when the wind does not blow. This gives us resilience and independence,” he said.
