There will be no US sanctions on Paks II.
The difficulties caused by the sanctions on Gazprombank, which came into effect at the end of 2024, by the Biden administration were eliminated by the Trump administration's decision in the summer of 2025, which lifted these sanctions until December 2025. As a result of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Washington on 7 November 2025, an agreement was reached on complete exemption from sanctions. Viktor Orbán announced at a press conference: there would not be any American objections against the construction of Paks II Nuclear Power Plant in the future and there would not be any action taken against it. As he said, "we had left the sanction obstacles behind."
