Signed key contracts for the supply of nuclear fuel for Sizewell C.

The Sizevel C project has signed a six-year contract with Urenco for uranium enrichment services and a long-term contract with Framatome for the production of nuclear fuel for the planned Sizevel C nuclear power plant in the United Kingdom

The Urenco contract will enable uranium enrichment at the Capenhurst facility in northwestern England, covering the fuel needs during the first six years of operation of the two reactor units. Urenco's director, Boris Schucht, stated that the cooperation will contribute to preserving jobs and developing skills in the nuclear industry. At the same time, the contract with Framatome covers the production of fuel for the first reactor cores and subsequent assemblies, with the fuel initially produced at the factory in Romans, France, until new facilities in the United Kingdom are completed. This will reduce dependence on imported fuel and create new jobs.

Sizewell C will consist of two EPR reactors with a total capacity of 3.2 gigawatts, which is enough to supply six million households for at least 60 years. The project represents a replica of the Hinkley Point C power plant, and it is expected that, thanks to the experience gained during its construction, it will be realized faster and at a lower cost. These contracts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the United Kingdom's energy security and support domestic companies, given that 70% of the construction value of the power plant will go to British companies, and plans also include increasing that share to 90% over the life cycle of the project.
