The reactor pressure vessel has been installed on the first unit of the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.

Successfully installed the reactor vessel into the reactor hall of the first unit of the Egyptian El-Dabaa nuclear power plant. This represents a key moment in construction and marks the project's entry into the most important phase of construction, because the reactor vessel is probably the most important element of the nuclear power plant

The reactor vessel, weighing 340 tons, was produced within Rosatom's mechanical division. After it was delivered to Egypt in October, it was placed in its design position at the center of the reactor zone with the help of a special heavy crane with a capacity of 2,200 tons.

The significance of this event was highlighted by the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in a ceremony held via video link. The ceremony was attended by Rosatom's Director General Aleksei Lihačov, the Russian ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko, as well as the highest officials of the Egyptian government, and participants were also addressed by a special video message from IAEA Director Rafael Grossi.

At the ceremony itself, Lihačov noted that the installation of the reactor vessel is “the most important production event of the year at this site,” adding that more than 30,000 people are currently working on the project.

The El-Dabaa nuclear power plant will be the first nuclear power plant in Egypt and one of the most technologically advanced. It will consist of four units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW) each, equipped with Generation 3+ VVER-1200 reactors: pressurized water reactors, cooled and moderated by light water.

Inače, projekat se realizuje u skladu sa ugovorima potpisanim još 2017. godine kada je dogovoreno da će ruska strana, osim same izgradnje, obezbediti i dugoročne isporuke goriva, obuku egipatskog osoblja i izgradnju infrastrukture za skladištenje istrošenog goriva, čime se obezbeđuje sveobuhvatna podrška egipatskom nuklearnom programu.
